Today was a creative day..

SEE??

I found some great fabric at the fabric market to sew some aprons for Christmas gifts.

This is the set of them that I made. The last one on the far right is mine. I made it out of the new 'Air Force' cami uniform fabric. It's for use in my art room- I figured that any messy art paints/etc. that I might get on my apron (instead of my clothing) would be hidden in the fabric design.

And look at what else I made! Some 'travel tissue' holders..
The outside is 'monkey sock' fabric.. and the inside is the fabric laying under the tissue holder. It's a Dick, Jane, Sally, Tim, Spot, and Puff fabric. Aren't these fabrics adorable? I made them so they are reversible.

Not being fan of orange, I wanted a different colored background for the 'sock monkey' fabric- but, it only came in the one color. But, hey.. at least it will be easy to be found in one's pocket, purse, or backpack, right? I'll add these in my Christmas gift packages.

I used to sew a lot .. but, haven't in a long time. I really enjoyed my day of sewing. Maybe, I should do it more often?

You are so talented! I love the aprons and the tissue holders. I need to get back to sewing more, I love sewing things for my daughters. I just don't have the space...

I know.. sewing always seems to be such a big project. You have to: find everything, cut the fabric out, get all the tools/etc., and hope your sewing machine is in a 'good mood.'.. :D

I used one of the aprons that I had as a pattern- just laid it down on the fabric and cut around it- made it a little wider (I needed mine to cover more of my clothing to use it in art class) and one was made for a male.. (can you guess which one? :D)...

I think it helped that I cut all four out at one time.. (one at a time, of course) and had everything ready to sew.. pressed the seams down prior to sewing. I didn't measure- I just 'eyeballed' it.

I found the buckle things for the neck ties at the fabric building and the fabric that I used is a really heavy cotton.

They look great! Whenever I sew for the girls I always do the same thing- cut all the pieces for both outfits all at once, then I can put away all the cutting stuff and get out the sewing stuff. I don't have a space for it, so I have to use the dining room table... :P

That's where I have to sew too- the dining room table.. and it makes a mess! Or maybe that's just me? :D

Beautiful Aprons! and the travel tissue holders are great. My Mom taught me to dew last year. It's just not my thing, But I admire people who do it so well!

Well, at least now you'll be able to do simple repairs and make nifty napkins- if you so choose to do so! :D
