I first made a pair of fuzzy feet... (pattern can be found on line) that I discussed in a previous post. Pre-felting..

Then, I knitted some little sock ornaments. I have made more since this photo using a variety of little sock ornament patterns.
And.. eventually after knitting what seemed like forever.. I had a pair of socks. I was even able to knit the stripes/colors to match on both socks. On one side, near the ankle, there is a small smattering of red stitches.. and I was amazed that the yarn did the exact same thing in the exact same place on the other sock too.

Opal is awesome sock yarn--I have some socks in Opal that I knit back when I was learning (5 years ago or so) and they still look almost new after several trips through the washer and dryer.
Congratulations! They look great. I've yet to finish a pair I started last year.

That's good to know! I loved the colors in that skein of yarn and I couldn't resist buying it. I forgot to mention that the colors in the skeins are colors found in paintings by some famous German artist by the name of: Gruener Janura
There is a small reproduction of the painting on the yarn skein label.
I have some of the yarn left over and I might use it to make some more Christmas sock ornaments.
Congratulations! Good choice on the yarn, too. It's my go-to yarn for my DD's socks--no matter what she does, she can't wear them out.
Thanks all! I have known how to knit since the mid 80's.. yes, that long.. but, I have never knitted a pair of socks.. never even wanted to.. but, while I did enjoy knitting the socks..
I can honestly say that I haven't started a new pair 'yet'... of course, that is also because.. school has been busy (the beginning of a new term is always busy) and I've got to work on Christmas knitting first.
Susanc.. get that pair of socks out and start working on them again!
Jellydonut.. good to know that I did select a good sock yarn for my first pair! I just love the way that the yarn knitted me a design.. pretty cool, I thought.
Yarn always looks so different knitted than it does in the skein.
