apparently, if a spider bites you

and you are sleeping you don't wake up.

Yes, I have been bitten by a spider... during the night sometime on Friday... had a yucky, swollen, red, and red streaked arm... for the weekend... and now, I'm left w/ an ugy hard raised swollen bite area... w/ the brownish red circle around it...

SO, I am on my way to see a doctor to get it checked out. I'm sure it's fine... since, my arm would have surely fallen off by the 4th day (today) after being bitten- but, since I don't know what kind of critters they have here in Germany.. and I still have evidence of a bite wound... I thought that it would be a good idea to have a German doctor look at it.

Yeah - get it looked at!! My husband apparently got bit one night as well & it ended up taking a hunk of his leg out!!! Dont want to freak you out - just want you to get it taken care of!!! Let docs tell you if there are vampire, blood sucking spiders in Germany! :-)

Eek! I'd have trouble sleeping, knowing there were spiders in the house.

What am I saying? My son saw, and photographed, a brown recluse in our front bathroom a couple of years ago. :-o I just try not to think about them...as I lie there in the dark...wondering what's crawling across my face (usually a hair!). ;-Þ

A few years ago there was a programme on TV called Bodysnatchers or something, about insects that bit and laid eggs / passed on horrible diseases etc. 90% of the stories started "While visiting Africa......", and guess where we'd just been told we were being sent by the company...

Get it checked out, it may be one of the bites that makes you arm fall off on the 5th day!

You guys (guy-ettes?) are so funny.

I went to the doctor... he spoke perfect ENGLISH and was kind of cute... always a plus.. except when they are SO HANDSOME you can't make eye contact for fear you'd swoon, moan outloud or something.

He put me on some antibitotics. (Spelling?) It is better already- but, it does make me want to look up GERMAN RESIDING SPIDERS so I can know which one of those 'critters' bit me!

I've never been afraid of spiders in general and grew up where the black widow and brown recluse (or as we called them: Fiddle Back Spiders) lived and know how to identify them-- so, now I have to watch out for this 'unknown' spider too.

The doctor told me that they don't have many 'bad critters' here... except for the black adder snake. Great... extreme fear of snakes... especially the ones that can kill you. lol
